Trekking in Chiang Mai

Treks around the stunning Mae Taeng valley a beautiful area of outstanding natural beauty including jungle, mountains and rivers. Experience elephant riding and bammboo rafting. Meet the hill tribes of northern Thailand which all have their own distictive customs, dialects and traditions.

Trekking in Chiang Rai

Exciting long distance trekking including boating and elephant riding. Learn all about the rich varied culture and traditions that historically developed in this this area including the mix of many hilltribes, Lanna Thais and the Burmese. Visit Chiang Saen the first capital of the Lanna Thai Kingdom and see many temple ruins.

Visit the Golden Triangle a land notorious in the history of illicit drugs along the border of three countires Thailand, Laos and Burma on the Mekong River.

Trekking in Mae Hong Song

Mae Hong Song is a remote area to the west of Chiang Mai along the border with Burma. Here you can visit isolated hilltribes in dense jungle, travel by bamboo raft down the Pai river, experience elephant rides and visit the Padang Long Neck Tribe.

 

Examples of Treks!

Below are some examples of treks that you can take with S.V Tours. It is not a comprehensive list but is given to give you an idea of the range of experiences they offer. Many of the treks are exclusive to S.V. Tours and you will not find these options with other agents in Chiang Mai.

One Day Doi Suthep & Hmong Hill Tribe Experience

A trek close to Chiang Mai not involving a lot of driving. In the morning you will visit stunning waterfalls where swimming and relaxation is possible. A two hour trek to a White Hmong village to get a glimpse of their way of life. Lunch at the village. In the afternoon, visit the famous Wat Phrathat Temple on Doi Suthep which was built in 1383 and offers stunning views of the city.

One Day Hill Tribe Trek to Chiang Dao

This trek is perfect for people that only have a short time in Chiang Mai and would like to learn about the Hill Tribes of northern Thailand. Chiang Dao is a beautiful natural area to the north of Chiang Mai.

8am - Pick up from hotel or guesthouse by local truck. A visit to the exotic market in the town of Mae Malai. This is an important market for hill tribe people to trade their goods with local people. It is exotic and colourful and place withan enormous range of agricultural produce, fruits, vegetables and flowers.

10am - a 1 hour trek to the Lahu tribe village of Baan Pathong.

Two or Three Day Treks to Mae Taeng

These treks take place in the stunning Mae Taeng Valley and include visits to Lahu, Karen and Shan hill tribe villages, elephant riding, bamboo rafting and visiting some of the best countryside in the area with towering mountains, dense jungles and wonderful rivers.

Off-Road Treks!

Trek to more remote areas by off-roading in Caribian jeeps or rugged Pajeros. These four wheel drive vehicles allow you to enter what would otherwise be restricted access sites and are a lot of fun.

Off-road treks are available for one, two or three days.
